Generate embeddings, rerank and classify text with Jina AI's Search Foundation API.
Jina AI ships in the w6w first-party pack. It declares 15 actions, 2 health checks, and the host runs its code in a sandbox that never sees the credential.
io.w6w.jinaaiJina AI’s Search Foundation API is the embedding/reranking/classification backbone behind a lot of retrieval-augmented and search-driven LLM applications: dense text and multimodal embeddings (jina-embeddings-v3/v4/v5, CLIP, ColBERT multi-vector, code-specialized models), a cross-encoder reranker for refining search results, zero-shot and few-shot text/image classification against trainable classifiers, an experimental vision-language chat completion endpoint, and an asynchronous batch embeddings pipeline for bulk JSONL jobs too large for a single request.
This app covers the full api.jina.ai Search Foundation surface documented in Jina’s own OpenAPI 3.1 specification — embeddings, reranking, classification, classifier training/management, model discovery, batch embedding jobs, and the (vendor-labelled experimental) chat completions endpoint. It deliberately does NOT cover Jina’s separate Reader (r.jina.ai), Search (s.jina.ai) or DeepSearch products, which are different hosts with their own, undocumented-here, API shapes.
Health checks track Jina’s own Statuspage (scoped to the Embedding Models and Reranker Models components this app actually calls) plus a lightweight, no-token-cost credential probe.
Three routes to the same 15 actions. The Workflow tab is generated from Jina AI's own manifest and carries its real ids, so it is copy-pasteable; the Code and CLI examples are the same call for any action on any app, so every app-specific value in them is a blank you fill in.
batch-embeddings-create Start an asynchronous bulk embedding job from inline JSONL or a JSONL file URL.
batch-errors-get Download the error JSONL file for a completed batch embedding job.
batch-output-get Download the output JSONL file for a completed batch embedding job.
chat-completions Vendor-labelled experimental: no availability/stability guarantee. OpenAI-compatible chat completion with jina-vlm.
classifier-train Create a few-shot classifier from labeled examples, or add more to an existing one.
classify Zero-shot classify text/images against ad-hoc labels, or run a trained classifier.
embeddings-create Generate dense, multi-vector or sparse embeddings for text, images or PDFs.
models-list List every model available on the Search Foundation API, with pricing and modalities.
A workflow step names the app and the action, and the editor fills in the
connection when you pick one. This is the Step shape from the
workflow spec, carrying Jina AI's real ids.

Every app-specific value here is a blank you have to fill in. An
app action is reached through the connection that authenticates it, so the
address is a connection id, not the app id — and connections belong to your account,
so a public page cannot know yours. Create one for Jina AI, then fill in
the three blanks: conn_YOUR_CONNECTION_ID, the action key, and the
parameters that action declares. The call itself is real — the shape is transcribed
from the studio's own snippet builder, which prints the same kind of blanks — but
nothing in it is specific to Jina AI. The Workflow tab is where this app's
real ids are.

One MCP endpoint exposes every app, function and workflow the caller is entitled to, as tools it can discover and run. Access is granted per team while we onboard.
One tool call{
"name": "w6w_invoke",
"arguments": {
"ref": "app:io.w6w.jinaai#batch-embeddings-create",
"input": {
"model": "<model>"
}
}
}
Every tool names its target with a single ref. The
app: form above doesn't name a connection at all — the
host resolves which of the caller's Jina AI connections to sign
with, and refuses rather than guesses when the answer is ambiguous.
The token is attached host-side, at the moment of the call. It is never a tool argument, never in the model's context, and never in a transcript — so a prompt injection has nothing to exfiltrate.
Tools are derived per end user from what that person has actually connected and is entitled to — not one shared bot identity carrying the union of everyone's access.
Multi-step work runs on the workflow engine and returns a run handle the agent can poll — retries, branching and state survive the conversation that started them.
Jina AI's declared health checks are on the surface too, so an agent can tell "the vendor is down" from "your credential expired" before it burns a retry on either.
The MCP surface is part of the hosted platform. Jina AI itself is MIT, and the runtime that executes it is source-available (FSL).
Jina AI declares its own checks, so its health is a property of the app rather than something the host guesses at.
Component status from status.jina.ai, scoped to the Embedding Models and Reranker Models groups plus jina-vlm — the products this app's actions actually cover.
